About The Pencil Box
-
The Pencil Box is a non-profit in Tulsa County, providing free school supplies to teachers dedicated to helping underserved students in low-income public schools. Teachers can hit up our free store to select supplies tuned to their students' and classrooms' needs. We rely solely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundations that provide financial support and supplies.
-
Our mission rocks with empowerment! Every child deserves equal opportunity and access to quality education, no matter where they were born. We jam with school supplies, educational tools, and incentive items, leveling the classroom and giving hope for a brighter future.
-
We're strumming to:
Ensure every child in Tulsa County has the school supplies they need.
Offer students hope for tomorrow by empowering them today.
Provide a wide variety of materials that support successful learning.
Grow our organization to support all qualifying schools in Tulsa County.
Reduce the out-of-pocket financial burden many public school teachers face.
-
The beat of need is strong! 50% of Tulsa County public school students live at or below the Federal Poverty Level. Many arrive without necessary school supplies, lack adequate supplies at home, or can't replace them at the semester's start. Teachers are spending $500 out of pocket annually. We aim to equalize the opportunity, provide the tools, and eliminate the teachers' financial burden. Together, we rock for success!
-
Thanks to awesome fans like you, we've distributed $5.8 million worth of supplies since 2015, impacting over 200,000 students and 1,500 teachers!
-
We're the backstage crew for teachers! Eligible teachers from Tulsa County can select supplies specific to their students' needs. We offer core supplies, plus enrichment and incentive items, partnering with teachers in public schools where 70% or more of the students are at or below the Federal Poverty Level. The Pencil Box depends solely on generous donations and reduced prices from partnering vendors.
